Get ready for season 2010 !! On behalf of the GEBA committee I would like to welcome back clubs and players to the GEBA 2010 season. A very warm welcome to all new players. If the competitive nature of the 2009 season is anything to go by, then the 2010 season promises to be even more exciting. First division in particular will be the strongest it has been for quite some time. Lara, in winning Division Two, brings a very capable and experienced team to the division. This year will be the most hard fought Division One, with ANY of the teams capable of winning ANY game!!! If you get a chance to see one of the Division One home and away games, you should see some very good pool, and some very close results. Every game is a mini-final in it's own right. At the recent AGM, there were several changes to the committee. Welcome back Anne Eaton to the role of GEBA secretary. Previous Secretary, Darren " Deadly" Duncan replaces Gavin Meade as Association Treasurer. A warm welcome to Mik Hanson from the Shell Club, as he takes on a committee position. Mik brings a wealth of knowledge from other Victorian country associations, and should prove himself to be a valuable member of the GEBA committee. In the GEBA constitution, the statement of purposes shows that GEBA as a sporting or community organisation works to foster and develop the game of eight ball in the Geelong region. An exciting addition to the growth of eight ball and GEBA, the position of Promotions Officer was created and John McCarter Senior was appointed to this role. A full list of duties and responsibilities are available from the Secretary if required. There has been confusion about which cue ball to use for the 2010 season. Although it has yet to find it's way into the World Rules, the spotted cue ball remains the ball of choice for GEBA and until you are advised in writing by the GEBA committee, please continue using the spotted cue ball.
